1) Why is your chosen name Max?
In one of my early grades, (5th or 6th I think) there were something like 2 other guys with my given name, and 4 guys who went by the standard diminuative. So I picked something else. Later on in High School I experienced some hefty self-inflicted cognitive dissonance and decided I didn't want to be the same jerk I'd been, so I went back to going by Max. As for why Max...I like it. Depending on my mood it's either simply a short name that I like, taken from Mad Max which back in the day was my favorite movie due a love of the post apocalypse genre (and being too young to watch A Boy and His Dog), taken from the red robot in Black Hole ("Maximillion! Protect!"), or an adjective/warning. Sometimes, due to the way my accent pronounces it I spell it 'Macx' just to mess with peoples heads.
2) What is your favorite RPG?
That is a very difficult decision. Stylistically Gear Krieg is probably riegning champ. That was just a classy concept, done well without falling into pure pulp. They did WWII with mecha with the drama and gravitas of the Greatest Generation war sagas, instead of the pulp serials of the time period, and I think that was a good style choice. Castle Falkenstien runs a close second for using the 'Conneticut Yankee in King Arthur's Court' perspective for it's narration. Rules-wise I'm very fond of Cyberpunk for being quick and semi-realistic in a rutheless way. Right now my personal choice of a rules design set would be an obscene cross-breed of the R. Talsorian system pre-FUZION and Champions....except not FUZION which tried to do just that and failed. Some of my fondest memories though of are playing cheesy games like TMNT.
3) Do you have any siblings?
Nope. Only child. Some people think it explains a lot, I like to believe I'd be this big a screwup no matter what outside influences tried to convince me otherwise.
4) What food do you miss most from Seattle?
All of it. Fresh Pad Thai. the Cajun & Grill place at the mall that did bourbon chicken burgers. Fresh Sushi from a real sushi chef instead of a grocery store rice-roll short order trainie. The Philly cheese steak place hidden in the annex next to the Pike Place market. Beth's coffee.
5) Do you remember what we talked about when we had our crazy dialogues walking to the store from Andi & Charon's place?
The conversations I remember, exactly what they were not so much. Mostly philosophy or morality, starting from the jumping off point of some video game or RPG or movie. I miss having people around to have conversations like that with, but I think I also miss the desire to have such conversations. A lot of people claim, or want, to be a 'lifelong learner' or 'lifelong explorer', but most of the ones that at face value seem to succeed at that and continue exploring their universe past oh...30 or so, aren't really explorers anymore, they're crusaders. Dawkins, Stephenson, most astronomers, they're no longer looking to define their universe, to explore it. Instead they trying to prove their perspective correct. Of course, the vast majority don't even do that, don't even bother trying to prove anything they've been told, simply accept, so it's a step up. But the actual lifelong learners are rare as hen's teeth.
